Q & A For The Day

Anonymous Question: “People try so hard to not associate certain features with black women (i.e: big lips/butt) so as not to credit us. That would be admitting that we are emulated and that our body image/type is appropriated. It would mean recognising how these features were demonised on black women. Example: Old Disney cartoons that exaggerated our lips and our butts. These features are associated with black people. The cruel part is that it’s just not celebrated on us. Not celebrated on black skin.”

Answer: “All of this! Society knows it’s influenced by black beauty, but admitting to being influenced by something that they’ve been trying to promote as inferior due to their own insecurities is a ego bruiser.”-FedUpBlackWoman, Tumblr
