Black Woman, Where Have You Gone?

naturalblackwoman

Kinda sad, but nevertheless asks many sistas some important questions….

From Fed Up Black Woman

Dear Black Woman,

Where have you gone? You’ve abandoned yourself, and now you’re alone.

You put out a pedestal for others to have, one you’ve never made for yourself

You’re still invisible to them, unheard of, they don’t even notice you’re there.

Dear Black Woman,

Where have you gone? You’ve abandoned yourself, and now you’re all alone.

You look in the mirror, face tired, body tired, hands hurting from labor

Your good deeds go unnoticed, but you do whatever it takes to cater

There you are looking for love, buying love in a unknown place

Looking for validation from a person who sees you as a disgrace.

Dear Black Woman,

Where have you gone? You’ve abandoned yourself, and now you’re alone.

There you are mad, angry and upset because no one recognizes you there

You’ve done everything to appease them , changing everything from your toes to your hair

You’re treated like a criminal, everyday you’re on trial

You think ignoring the abuse will kill the monster, disguising pain with denial

What happened to you black woman? Your skin color, your hair, your features your character your authenticity is a former shell
On a boat with the rest of your identity you chose to bid them “farewell”.

Dear Black Woman,

Where have you gone? So far away from yourself, the real you is forever gone.
